What is Peace Tower Park?

The park is located on Zamami Island, one of the Kerama Islands in Okinawa Prefecture, and was used by the U.S. Army during the ground battles of the Battle of Okinawa.indiscriminate attackThe tower is a prayer tower for peace built to commemorate the approximately 1,200 Japanese civilians and military personnel who were killed in the Battle of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
