About the tour held on Tokashiki Island
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q. Can I visit Tokashiki Island on a day trip?
Yes, you can enjoy the islands on a day trip! The island is only about 35 minutes from Naha (Tomari Port) by high-speed boat and about 70 minutes by ferry, so you can easily experience the remote islands while staying on the main island of Okinawa. The island itself is large enough to circle in half a day, so it is very popular to enjoy snorkeling and other activities before returning to Naha on the evening flight.
Q. How much does a Tokashiki Island tour cost?

Depending on the content, the market price is generally between 5,000 yen and 15,000 yen. A day tour to the beach costs around 5,000 to 8,000 yen (round-trip boat ticket + transportation, etc.), while an excursion with diving and snorkeling costs around 10,000 to 15,000 yen.
*Varies depending on whether the plan includes the boat fee or equipment rental. Please check each tour plan for details.

Q. At what age can children join the Tokashiki Island tour?

You can go ashore at the age of 0, but there are age restrictions for some activities. Swimming and sightseeing: is not a problem with babies. The beach has shallow water for family fun. In addition, snorkeling is generally available for ages 3-6 and older (accompanied by a parent or guardian), and diving is available for ages 10 and older at most stores.
*Because standards vary by tour company and plan content, please be sure to check the applicable age range at the time of booking.

Q. Can I make a same-day or day-before appointment?

Possible if available!
At Kerama Tours, we offer plans that allow for last-minute reservations on the day before or the day of the tour. We also offer last minute reservations for the day before or on the day of the tour. Please feel free to contact us by phone or inquiry form.

Q. Can I see sea turtles while snorkeling?

High probability of meeting!
There are several beaches on Tokashiki Island that are inhabited by sea turtles, and the chances of encountering one while snorkeling are very high. However, since they are wild animals, 100% cannot be guaranteed, but if you join a guided tour, you will be guided to the points where turtles are most likely to appear, which will greatly increase your chances of encountering them.

Q. Which do you recommend, Tokashiki Island or Zamami Island?

It depends on your purpose, but if it is your first time or you want to save travel time, Tokashiki Island is recommended.

Difference between the two islands
◆Tokashiki Island
It is the closest to Naha and is ideal for relaxing on the dynamic terrain and beautiful beaches.

◆Zamami Island
It is popular with repeat visitors who want to enjoy touring observatories, whale watching in winter, and "island hopping" around multiple islands.

Q. What happens in case of bad weather or flight cancellation?

If the ship is cancelled, the tour is generally also cancelled (with no cancellation fee).
If a ferry or high-speed boat is cancelled due to a typhoon or strong winds, it will not be possible to cross to the island. The person who made the reservation will be notified as soon as the cancellation is decided. The tour will be held even in the event of rain as long as the boat is in operation and sea conditions are acceptable, but please check the cancellation policy in advance, as a stipulated fee may be charged in the event of cancellation for the customer's convenience.

Last time I visited a different island, but this time I chose Awa Beach on Tokashiki Island—and it was the perfect choice. Just gazing at the pure white sandy beach and the crystal-clear ocean was enough to wash away the fatigue of everyday life. I was able to spend some leisurely time there, and it reaffirmed for me just how wonderful Okinawa’s outlying islands really are.

I was worried I wouldn't have the stamina to paddle the entire way, but I was relieved to be able to go at my own pace. I was truly moved by the sense of accomplishment when we landed on the uninhabited island and by the view of the Kerama Blue stretching out before me. The transportation to and from the island went smoothly, which was a big help. The sun was strong, so I think it would have been more comfortable if I had brought a rash guard.
